Volunteering
What can you expect?
As a volunteer there are various of jobs that you can assist with:
Serving in the store – there is a volunteer working alongside a paid staff member throughout each working day. They assist with general store duties and serve customers when the paid member of staff is engaged on the Post Office Counter. The majority of volunteers serving in store commit to set shifts – typically 2 to 4 hours long – weekly or fortnightly. Some, who are unable to commit to specific shifts, are called upon on an ad-hoc basis, to cover holidays and absences. Guidance and training is provided by the store and a volunteer is never alone behind the counter. Help is always on hand, if needed!
Assisting with stock deliveries – the store usually receives a large stock delivery each week. Volunteer help is needed to inventory, stack shelves and store goods.
Self-stacking – particularly during busy periods, such as in the lead up to Christmas, additional assistance might be needed in store, to keep the shelves laden with produce.
Cleaning and tidying – if you have an hour here and there to pick up a duster or broom, it would be greatly appreciated. We need to keep the store clean and inviting to our customers.
General maintenance – The re-furbished store looks amazing and we’d like to ensure it stays that way. There will be times that we need some volunteer assistance with general maintenance. If you have skills and are keen to assist, please let us know.
