Well, if you have visited the shop recently you will have seen our new fridges. And very smart they are too (as well as easier to keep clean!). More efficient, they boast sliding doors to keep the food cold, and comply with the latest energy regulations. They are, in fact, bespoke, so that they could fit through the door! You won’t see any quite like them, so, if you know any fridge enthusiasts, tell them to come and take a look at ours! One challenge they created, however, was how to display our confectionery. The sides are unfortunately not magnetic, so the hooks we used before won’t ‘stick’. We’ve tried magnetic tape, but it’s not very strong, as some of our customers have noticed when they touch a bag and everything comes clattering down with rather too much enthusiasm! Anyway, hopefully that will be a thing of the past by the time you read this, because we are due to be fitted with a unit that, we have been assured, will hold everything we could ever want to display – well, confectionery anyway!
Last month I told you about the questionnaire we are doing. Responses so far are very positive e.g. we are lucky to have such a well-stocked shop, both the Post Office staff and the volunteers are very friendly and welcoming. It’s not too late to complete it. We will take all responses seriously, so please keep them coming in. We’re always looking for ways to improve this invaluable village resource and make it as good as it could be.
And we are lucky. Our trusty band of volunteers are always ready to cover extra shifts, even at the last minute, and, even if it’s at 6.30am. I take my hat off to them! (Wherever did that expression come from?) And I heard a lovely story recently of a customer asking if we knew where her ex-neighbour who moved to Findon might live, and, from the brief description she gave, the shop staff managed to work the address out, and even escort her there! Wow! How’s that for a service that goes above and beyond!
So, having read this, you might just fancy working here. (Wouldn’t we all?) If you think you might like to join the happy band of staff, we have just the thing for you. A vacancy has come up for a paid Post Office and shop assistant, which obviously needs to be filled as soon as possible. Full training will, of course, be given. If you think that you might be the right person to fill this position, or even if you’re unsure but would like to find out more, please see the advert in Findon News, or pop in and chat to Angus, our manager, or Helen, our deputy. Thank you.
